goodbyes

If the skipper of Use It Again by Extia is used to the exercise of departures and goodbyes to the family, there was always so much emotion this morning on the hold.

We have to go ! Leave my family, my wife Aurélie and my little Jodie. Colas and Titouan my two big boys will be on board until the start. For a few days, I have been sick and it is not easy mentally to enter the race feeling physically diminished. I also know that once on board, you have more choice, you just have to be focused on the race.

Today, the passage I fear the most is Cap Fréhel since I will have to tack with the whole fleet. Then, I'll be upwind to round Brittany. If all goes well, I can do it on one tack, the slightest maneuver is trying on this giant trimaran. You have to save as much as possible.

In the South of Ouessant, it will be necessary to deal with a first front passage then a second 24 hours later. The rest we will see, a priori I will take a route to the South, the idea is not to break the boat in the West where an active front is generating winds of 45-50 knots. It's going to be a tonic start to the deckchair!

Top start at 2:15 p.m.!
