Postponement of departure!

The announcement was made this morning during the skippers' briefing: in view of the weather conditions announced for the first hours of the race, the organization has postponed the start of La Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe to Tuesday or Wednesday. A decision hailed by Romain Pilliard, skipper of the Trimaran Use It Again by Extia.

“It is a good and courageous decision by the race management. It's been a few days that the weather files announce with certainty very difficult conditions. If the start had been given tomorrow, I had planned to stop no matter what because we had been certain of the state of the sea for a few days (8-meter waves). The wind will pick up on Monday (45 knots) and above all it will blow in the wrong direction to pass the tip of Brittany. It was necessary to pass there quickly to escape the most difficult of the passage of the front. For my part, I had therefore planned to stop after the start in Roscoff or to return to Saint-Malo. I think a lot of skippers didn't feel like going there, the organization would have put too many people in a difficult situation. Statistically out of 138 boats, there would have been breakage and then one can imagine the difficulty in implementing rescue means in such conditions. This gives us a few more days of rest after these last very busy days in Saint-Malo. And we're going through the lock today to put Use It Again by Extia under cover.”
