Founded in 2013 by Raphaëla Le Gouvello, the RespectOcean network, which became an association under the 1901 law in September 2018, brings together actors and companies committed to sustainable economic development in favor of the protection, preservation and enhancement of the oceans, coasts and their ecosystems.
The members of the network bring solutions and innovations and adopt more sustainable models. " We believe that economic development is compatible with the protection of the ocean and we wish to promote and enhance existing initiatives and become their spokesperson with the various stakeholders and national authorities. “, explains its founder. At the beginning of 2020, after a first year of official existence, RespectOcean has more than 50 members. The activities of the association revolve around four main themes, including the promotion of a more circular economy.
The respective or joint actions of Romain Pilliard and the RespectOcean association will contribute to strengthening and defending the idea of the necessary transition towards a more circular economy in favor of the protection and preservation of the ocean, its resources and its biodiversity.
« The world of sailing and in particular that of offshore racing are increasingly mobilizing for the protection of the ocean. Witnesses to the changes, the effects of climate change and the pollution affecting the ocean, sailors become ambassadors and also actors committed to seeking solutions, such as integrating the principles of more circular and more virtuous economy.
